Time & Location

Furnish Studio + Salvage, 3600 Arctic Blvd, Anchorage, AK 99503, USA

About the event

Does the amount of stuff you throw away or donate ever make you cringe?  How much money did you spend on those items that quickly go in the garbage?  How about the space those items take up in your home before you decide to just go ahead and donate them?  Or the time it takes you drive them to a donation center... not to mention the effort it takes the donation attendant to process those items to be resellable.

What if instead we consumed less?  What if we were really intentional with what we purchase?  What if we weren't allowed to buy things until we had a plan for where they would go when we were done with them that wasn't just "taking them to the landfill"?

Americans generate almost 5 pounds of waste per person per day.  That's about 1,800 pounds each year.  This movie and this discussion will be about how to we bring less into our lives so we have less to throw out.

We will be watching the 2016 documentary Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things.  We will watch and provide discussion questions for the group before, maybe during, and after the film.

This ticket includes:

  • Entry to watch the documentary
  • Light refreshments
  • Great, thought-provoking discussion

What to bring:

  • An open mind
  • A method of taking notes if that's your style
